As you and your therapist process your experiences, you’ll learn to cultivate trust within yourself by accessing your curiosity, compassion, and courage.

Trauma is an emotional response to a distressing or disturbing event that overwhelms someone’s ability to cope. It often leaves you feeling helpless and reduces your ability to experience a full range of emotions. Trauma can have significant impacts on your mental, emotional, and physical well-being, and what one person experiences as trauma might not be a traumatic experience to someone else.
There are also different types of trauma, though the impacts of each of these can vary depending on the person. Big "T" Trauma refers to significant and often life-threatening events, such as natural disasters, car crashes, physical or sexual abuse, or sudden loss of a loved one. Little "t" trauma involves less intense, but still distressing, events that tend to be more chronic or cumulative, and can significantly impact an individual's mental health over time. Examples of little “t” trauma include chronic stress, interpersonal conflicts such as divorce or ongoing family disputes), emotional neglect, and repeated failures or disappointments.
